NCCC, NHSCC, Pro Shootout #1, ACL Open #6 & ACL Pro Team Draft Recap!

What. A. Weekend. Even though I had 101 other things to work on this week, it just didn’t feel right missing the 2nd ACL Teams draft. I shot down to Myrtle Beach late New Years Eve, just to be here and soak it all in on New Years day. WOW WOW & WOW, what an improvement for 2023! The 16 newly designed cornhole Pro Teams logos and jerseys look amazing! The ACL leveled up this year for sure. This thing is evolving fast, and it will only grow from here!

The American Cornhole League outdid themselves with the packed full New Year's weekend they put together. On top of the excitement from the National College Cornhole Championship (NCCC)  & The National High School Cornhole Championship (NHSCC), we also had the first pro shootout of the season, Open #6 AND The 2nd Annual ACL Draft.

Almost 100 teams competed in this year's NCCC for the prize pool of up to $50,000 in scholarships for singles, doubles & team events. With cornhole gaining momentum in the sports world, college teams are being created and the cornhole culture is spreading and taking over across the country. The 2022 champions for the NCCC are:

  • Singles: Kole Brewer representing Indiana State
  • Doubles: Avery Snipes & Angel Camarena representing the University of South Carolina

The NHSCC provides seed money to schools and athletic departments to develop cornhole programs helping to introduce cornhole to students and nurturing the love of the game at a young age. This year's talent brought the heat and made for some exciting matchups! The 2022 champions for the NHSCC are:

2023 ACL OPEN #6

Open #6 brought in an incredible turnout. Pros, advanced and competitive players all under one roof doing what they love to earn points toward their season.. Both Pro & Non-Pro Gladiators attended and made their mark. While we may not have had anyone take it all, we are grateful for our team who believes in our equipment and brand. We are looking forward to seeing all of you crush it a the next one!

Our non-pro-sponsored players are working hard too! Huge Shoutout to Shaquille Maxey for currently being ranked in the top 100 for open standings!!

THE DRAFT

Let's talk ACL Teams!  The ACL really stepped it up this year with the draft. Definitely had pro football draft vibes and we were loving it!  It was great just to get to observe and be a spectator during the live draft and loved seeing the dedication and passion from the ACL Staff as well as the Teams themselves.

This season there will be 2 divisions, American Division and National Division. Under each division there will be 2 regions containing 4 teams each for a total of 16 teams.

Of course, we will be rooting for the teams that drafted Team Gladiator ACL Pro Cornhole Players but here are the rosters for all 16 teams:

What team are you pulling for this season? How did you think the ACL did with the new Team draft format? Which team logo do you like the best? Let us know in the comments!
