ACL CORNHOLE TOURNAMENTS AND POINTS

You've seen cornhole evolve from a backyard, tailgating game to a pro sport featured on ESPN, and the American Cornhole League (ACL) has been the biggest pioneer and influence in this transformation. We're here to break down the different types of ACL cornhole tournaments and give you the info on how ACL Points work.

TYPES OF ACL CORNHOLE TOURNAMENTS:

LOCAL TOURNAMENTS:
  • Local points tournaments can apply to any singles, BYOP doubles, or blind draw double tournaments.
  • Points are awarded based on where a player or team finishes in a tournament.
  • ACL Open Standings will take a players Top 15 local tournament finishes and use them toward ACL Ranking.
REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS:
  • Happening all around the country, these are for local players looking to show their skills on a broader stage.
  • Regional Directors may run one Monthly Regional Points Tournament per division / Tournament type per month and the max for the season is 10.
  • In order for a Monthly Regional tournament to be worth Regional points you must have 6 players (for singles) and 6 teams (for doubles). If you do not have 6 singles or 6 doubles then that tournament will NOT count for ACL points.
  • Players may play in more than one Monthly Regional Event in a Month, but only the top score for singles and top score for doubles/blind draw will count as their Monthly Regional Score for that month.
  • Different divisions ensure everyone finds their competition, and the points you win affect your ranking.
CONFERENCE & STATE CHAMPIONSHIP:
  • There is two conference events per conference.
  • There is one State Championship per State.
  • State Championship count for Conference points.
  • The top 100 players in each conference gets an invitation to the Conference Championship and Conference Pro-Qualifier.
  • Players may only play in the Conference lines & State Championship they are assigned to.
OPEN EVENTS:
  • Each player can play in as many Open tournaments as they want.
  • Opens are 2-day events and include Open Doubles and Singles based on skill levels.
  • Opens also include Women’s Singles, Senior Singles, and Junior Singles.
  • Event may include a Pro Shootout.
  • ACL Open standings will include your top 2 open singles and doubles scores.
  • All open winners in Singles and Level 1 doubles will be invited to play in the “ACL Tournament of Champions” at the World Championship.

NATIONAL EVENTS:

  • Local points tournaments can apply to any singles, BYOP doubles, or blind draw double tournaments.
  • Points are awarded based on where a player or team finishes in a tournament.
  • ACL Open Standings will take a player's Top 15 local tournament finishes and use them toward ACL Ranking.

CHAMPIONSHIP:

  • This is where it all leads - the grand finale of cornhole. Top players from around the world compete for the title and the cash.
  • Divisions ensure everyone gets a shot at glory.

HOW DO ACL POINTS WORK?

1. Point Earning:

  • Playing in ACL events earns you points. The better you do, the more points you get.Bigger events mean more points, so go big or go home!

2. Division Matters:

  • Points are like gold, but they're division-specific. They'll get you climbing the ladder within your division.

3. Bonus Points:

  • You can earn 400 bonus points throughout the season! Attending 8 ACL Tournaments a month will get you an extra 40 points. Now that may seem like a lot BUT if you attend a ACL Conference and enter a Singles, Doubles, Blind Draw and Sit-N-Go that would count as 4 events!

4. Seasons and Resets:

  • The maximum points that can be earned is 5,000

            400 Bonus points

            1600 Open Events Points

            1200 Conference Points

            1200 Regional Points

            600 Local Points

  • Think of it as a fresh start each year. Points reset at the end of the season, giving everyone a fair shot.

5. Rankings and Benefits:

  • Your points determine where you stand within your division. The higher, the better.
  • Better rankings mean eligibility for exclusive events, “Top Players” in each region, and bragging rights! Keep that aim high!
